Detection

PCR products are detected either by gelelectrophoresis, in other words by direct visualisation after cutting open and dyeing in an agarose gel, or online, which involves the use of dye-marked probes. In this case the amplification is measured directly with the aid of suitable equipment, e.g. TaqMan, and this allows very sensitive and precise quantification.
